CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Controversy in Cape Coral now that one councilman is threatening legal action against another.
John Cariosca sent a cease and desist letter to Chris Chulakes-Leetz stemming from a heated exchange at a July meeting. In the meeting, Chulakez-Leetz says Cariosca pointed to his crotch while speaking to Chulakes-Leetz.
The next day, Chulakes-Leetz did a radio interview and wrote an email referring to the exchange saying, "He made the most vulgar gesture any man can make to another man. Key word here is man and the district 2 council member no longer qualifies as a man."
Cariosca believes Chulakes-Leetz is trying to ruin his reputation but others think this is all just a distraction.
"I think it's gotten too personal. I don't think it belongs up there and it's bad for the city," said Mayor John Sullivan.
Many viewers think the same. Joann posted on Facebook, "Don't they have better things to do? After all they run the city."
Cleveland added, "This is how our city council spends its time? Politics has become nothing but a joke in this country."
But Nick supports Cariosca posting, "I believe it's the correct road to take... let's face it, these "adults" (quotations because not all act like it) are in some of the highest authority in our city. It's about time that one gets told to act like one, legally..."
Cariosca's attorney says he hopes he doesn't have to file a lawsuit. Chulakez-Leetz says he's surprised it's gone this far.
