Viewers Voice: Costume scares up controversy in SWFL

CREATED Oct. 28, 2013 - UPDATED: Oct. 28, 2013
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A Halloween costume is hitting a nerve around Southwest Florida after a picture of two Cape Coral men are posted on the internet as Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. The costume shows one man wearing a T-shirt that says,"Neighborhood Watch" on it pointing his fingers like a gun at another man wearing a bloodied hooded sweatshirt and a black face.
While it may have been one of the most talked about trials this year, dressing up like the two is going too far according to many of you.
Marianne posted to Facebook, "In extremely bad taste...shows the disconnect and lack of compassion that society has today."
Cathy said, "Not good at all.... why open a cut wound again.... nothing funny about this at all."
Roxanne wrote, "Very disrespectful!"
Some may be disgusted but others give the duo credit for creativity. Luke posted, "Luv it! Get a sense of humor people!"
Angela added, "Its just a costume really people just get over it.......why does everything have to be scrutinized?"
Jennifer responded to the comments praising the pair by asking, "How would u feel about someone dressing up as your deceased family member ????"

Bonnie thought, "Its in poor taste but this is America and they are free to do what they want."
