Tracking the Tropics: The waves

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The tropical feature the National Hurricane Center is most interested in right now is one that is just moving off the coast of Africa within the next day or so.  There is a large area of thunderstorms around the wave and environmental conditions may be favorable for some developement over the next two or three days as the system approaches the Cape Verde Islands.  With that being said, it seems that beyond that time period, conditions will be less favorable for developemnt.  Right now, the Hurricane Center is giving this a 30% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next five days.

A bit closer to home, a tropical wave located about 950 miles from the Lesser Antilles has been given only a twenty percent chance of developement over the next five days.  Upper level winds in this region should keep
any developement to a minumum.
