FOX 4 Storm Patrol
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Tropical Storm Fernand has weakened to a tropical depression in eastern Mexico. Currently located 50 miles south-southwest of Tuxpan, Mexico, Tropical Depression Fernand has sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving to the northwest at 9 mph.
On the forecast track, the storm system will continue moving to the northwest with a slight decrease in forward speed continuing to move further inland over Mexico through the remainder of the day.
Fernand will be a rain maker over the eastern Mexico producing 4-8 inches of rain with some areas possibly receiving 12 inches. Around the rest of the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and the tropical Atlantic, conditions remain quiet for the time being.
