Tracking the Tropics: Dry air

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Dry air remains over much of the Atlantic and wind shear over the Caribbean and the Atlantic is helping to keep the tropics quiet.
The computer models continue to forecast quiet conditions for the next couple of days. Typically we see our first hurricane by August 1st and our second by ; we haven't had a hurricane yet this season.
But before we start talking about a less active season, our 5th named storm usually doesn't show up until , Tropical Storm Erin in the open waters of the Atlantic last week was our 5th.
