Sullivan fights to retain Mayor's seat

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - An attorney for former Cape Coral Mayor John Sullivan filed an amended complaint Monday outlining reasons for a recount in the November election he lost to new Mayor Marni Sawicki.
Sullivan lost by 121 votes, slightly more than the number needed to justify an automatic recount.
The complaint questions why the tally in the Mayor's race is 110 votes less than shown in the total number of votes cast in the election. It also questions 55 provisional ballots, of which, only 17 were counted. Sullivan's attorney Leigh Fischer wants to know what happened to the 38 other ballots.
Sullivan is also claiming that at least one Cape Coral precinct closed early.
