FORT MYERS, Fla. - Southwest Floridians marched through Downtown Fort Myers Saturday in honor of Martin Luther King's 'I have a Dream' speech.
Saturday marked the 50th anniversary of the speech and the March on Washington.
The Fort Myers march was led by the Southwest Florida chapter of the National Action Network. They were joined by other local organizations fighting for civil rights like the Coalition of Immokalee Workers.
The N.A.N said the march represented the community finally coming together in support of equality.
"It brought tears to my eyes and it is now. Because it's about time the community decided that they are going to get together and do things the right way," Denise John, President of the local chapter of N.A.N, said.
