Police search for Cape Coral shooting suspect

CREATED Sep. 1, 2013

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral police are investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night in the 500 block of  SW 47th Terrace.

Investigators say two men pulled up to that address at about 10:30 p.m.  The suspect got into the back seat of the car and pulled a handgun.

The suspect pointed the gun at both the driver and a passenger.  A struggle ensued and the suspect fired several shots.

Two shots hit 20-year-old Jamar Lee Martin in the face and shoulder.

All three men exited the car with the suspect fleeing on foot.  Martin stumbled to the 500 block of Cape Coral Parkway and flagged down a motorist who called police.  He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Police believe there is no imminent threat to the public at large and continue looking for the suspect.

Detectives released a sketch of the shooting suspect.
