FORT MYERS, Fla. - A warning to residents of Lee and Collier County about a property deed scam. Both Lee County Clerk of the Court Linda Doggett and Collier County Clerk of the Court Dwight Brock say a scam has surfaced involving a Delaware company.
Property Transfer Services, located in Wilmington Delaware, is sending property owners notices stating they should have a copy of their deed. The company will provide it to them for a fee of $83.
Both Brock and Doggett want to remind homeowners they can receive a copy of their deeds, free of charge, by simply requesting one from their perspective offices. Lee County residents can go to the Clerk's website and print a free copy as well.
