Salvation Army will take over Toys for Tots in Collier County

NAPLES, Fla.- Salvation Army Naples will handle the Toys for Tots drive this holiday season.
"We're all about helping people in need at Christmas. That is where we want to go and that is what we want to do." Major Dan Proctor with the Salvation Army Naples said.
Major Dan Proctor said after hearing the Marine Corps League of Naples would not host the popular Toys for Tots drive this year, The Salvation Army stepped in and is taking over.
" We all can work together to make things happen in this community if one group is having a struggle we all work together to fill the gap." Major Proctor said.
Major Proctor said The Salvation Army of Naples already helps 25,000 people every year and now the need is even greater.
"We expect another 500 or so families to participate with us this year because our taking on the Toys for Tots program." Major Proctor said. 59:17-59:25)
FOX 4 reached out to the Marine Corps league of Naples to find out why the drive was cancelled, we haven't heard back but the Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of the organization possibly mis-using funds. Major Proctor said no matter the circumstance, kids in Collier won't suffer this Christmas.
" It is just as critical as it has been in the past, even more so but we know the good folks of Collier County will rally around the Salvation Army and help us meet our goals." Major Proctor said.
