CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral infant suffering from shaken baby syndrome remains in the Miami Children's Hospital tonight, but his condition remains unclear.
Cape Coral Police arrested the boy's dad, 31-year old James Buday Friday, on charges of cruelty toward a child and aggravated child abuse.
Buday showed up at the Cape Coral fire station July 9 with his unconscious infant son asking for help.
The Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida says this type of tragedy crosses all social and economic barriers.
Program director Brandy Edmiston says parents need to learn when to take a break.
"Its OK to simply place the baby in a safe place, such as a crib and walk away," says Edmiston.
Edmiston suggests frustrated parents take a few minutes to go outside, call a friend, and take a deep breath.
Otherwise, tragedy may strike if the parent doesn't have the proper coping skills.
