New charges against Port Charlotte burglary suspect

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A Port Charlotte man will face additional charges following his arrest Thursday night after an attempted vehicle burglary in the 1200 block of Yorkshire Street.
37-year-old Antonio Cuyler were arrested after he crashed his trying while trying elude deputies after the incident. He was arrested on a variety of charges, including the vehicle burglary.
A Port Charlotte man who was arrested Thursday night on multiple traffic, drug and burglary charges was charged Friday afternoon with additional burglary and theft charges.
Beginning early Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Office began receiving calls from other residents in Port Charlotte that found their vehicles had been broken into overnight.
A total of seven other complaints were received. In most of the cases, the vehicles had evidence of pry-marks and broken windows. In one instance, another witness saw a truck similar to the one Cuyler had been driving in the area of the burglary.
By Friday afternoon, detectives had enough evidence to connect Cuyler to the other seven vehicle burglaries. He was charged with seven additional counts of Burglary to a Conveyance and two counts of petit theft. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail on a total $119,000 bond.
