CREATED Nov. 22, 2013

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A crash involving a motorcycle and a mini-van Friday morning in Cape Coral claimed the life of the motorcyclist.

The crash happened before 7 a.m. at Pine Island Road and Cultural Park Boulevard.  Police say the victim, 22-year-old Joshua Edison Banner of Cape Coral, was not wearing a helmet.

Police say Banner was headed east on Pine Island Road from Santa Barbara Boulevard and 74-year-old Ronald Boevers of Cape Coral was headed west on Pine Island Road waiting to turn south onto Cultural Park Boulevard.

According to witnesses Banner was driving his motorcycle dangerously, changing lanes several times, cutting off other vehicles and not using his turn signal has he approached Cultural Park Boulevard.

Police say Boevers started to turn south onto Cultural Park Boulevard as Banner changed lanes again and his motorcycle hit the right front side of the mini-van.  Banner was ejected from his bike and came to rest in the intersection of the roadway.
