Hurricane watches in the Gulf Coast for Tropical Storm Karen

11pm Update. Karen now is losing strenth, with winds at 45 mph, and is moving N/NW at 7 mph.
Hurricane Watches for the Gulf Coast in the path of Tropical Storm Karen have been downgraded to Tropical Storm Watches as significant strengthening is unlikely at this time, this as of the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Hunters find little change in strength and path of Tropical Storm Karen as maximum sustained winds remain at 45 miles per hour. Karen continues to move toward the N/NW at 7 miles per hour. A turn toward the north with a decrease in forward speed are expected Saturday. Karen is expected to make landfall between Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle late Saturday or early Sunday.
