Hurricane experts still expecting above average storm season
FOX 4 Staff
FORT COLLINS, Co - The team at Colorado State that issues predictions for hurricanes is still to its prediction for an above-average 2013 Atlantic hurricane season.
The team did make a slight drop in the number of expected hurricanes due to cooling going on in the eastern tropical and subtropical Atlantic.
The Colorado State experts calls for 18 named storms between June 1 and November 30 and expect eight of those storms to become hurricanes, three major hurricanes. That's a slight reduction from the April and June forecasts for nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes.
So far, four named storms have formed in the Atlantic basin, but none have intensified into hurricanes.
