SANIBEL, Fla. - The federal government shutdown has forced U.S. Fish and Wildlife to cancel the annual Family Fun Day, which serves as the traditional kick-off to "Ding" Darling Days.
The event planned for Sunday, October 20th at the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is part of a week-long event sponsored by the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society.
Decisions about whether to cancel events following this opening day event will not be made until the middle part of next week pending the status of the ongoing shutdown.
