FORT MYERS, Fla. - The trial of a Fort Myers man charged in the murder of his girlfriend stopped just moments before the start of jury selection. 34-year-old Connell Carroll told the judge he wanted to plead no contest. The judge in turn found him guilty.
Carroll was found guilty of 2nd degree murder with a firearm in the 2011 death of Nicole Smith. Smith was Carroll's girlfriend.
Carroll, who has a long history of violent crime, will be sentenced by a judge in October 21.
