Fort Myers man charged in Punta Gorda burglary

CREATED Oct. 10, 2013

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - The Fort Myers man arrested for loitering on Tuesday now faces a charge of armed burglary.

Charlotte County detectives brought the additional charges against 19-year-old Stephen Adam Twyman.

Twyman is charged with taking part in a home burglary on Oil Well Road in Punta Gorda on Tuesday with two other men.

A woman at the home with her infant child heard a noise and spotted two masked men in the house.  She fled with the child and then saw three men dressed in black or dark clothing with ski masks and flee the residence.

Later Twyman was stopped by law officers as he walked along Oil Well Road toward U.S. 41.

Investigators matched shoe imprints from Twyman's Vans brand shoes to those found at the crime scene.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the burglary.  Anyone with information on this case or the identity of the other two suspects is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
