Florida Common Core hearings this week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida is going ahead with three public hearings on controversial new education standards this week.
Last month Governor Scott ordered hearings on Common Core standards.
Those hearings will be held Tuesday through Thursday in Tampa, Davie and Tallahassee.
If you can’t make the hearings, the DOE is also taking feedback on the website.
Scott said it's possible public comments could lead to changes in those standards that were adopted in 2010.
Critics of Common Core want the legislature to "pause" the standards from taking effect during the 2014-15 school year.
