Flood warning for Lee and Charlotte County

CREATED Sep. 24, 2013 - UPDATED: Sep. 24, 2013

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for urban areas and small streams in Lee County until 6:15 p.m. and for Charlotte County until 4:15 p.m.

The NWS reports that doppler radar indicates rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour and emergency management officials report flooding in the area.

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.  Never drive into areas where the water covers the roadway.  Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear.

Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.
