NAPLES, Fla. - Thousands turned out to get their claws on some crab claws at this year's Stone Crab Festival in Naples. Organizer Jason Camp tells Fox 4 the annual event is one of a kind.
"you can only catch stone crabs in the gulf right here. You know its great business for us, it really kicks up the restaurants and what we have, so what better way than throw a party?"
Manager at M&M's Cafe, JP, agrees.
"oh my god! Stonecrab festival it is crazy here in downtown"
He says it takes a lot of preparation to make the weekend long festival run smoothly.
"it's a lot. Long nights, making waffle cones, cinnamon vanilla waffle cones, which we make here by scratch, did I tell you we make our waffle cones by scratch?"
And this year, sightseeing company Pure Naples put together a map with 13 locations for visitors to stop in.
"when you stamp all of them you'll get put in for a drawing, and you can have chances to win sightseeing trips, fishing trips, a whole bunch of stuff like that."
