ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Charlotte County deputies arrested an Englewood man Tuesday evening after finding several packages of hallucinogenic mushrooms in the vehicle in which he was riding.
Deputies made a traffic stop in the area of CR 775 and Manor Road around 9:30 p.m. because the vehicle had a headlight out.
After writing the driver a warning, the deputy was given permission to search the vehicle.
During the search, deputies found a large zip-lock baggie stuffed behind the glove box on the passenger’s side where Alex Michael Petti, 23, had been sitting.
The large plastic baggie contained five smaller baggies with what appeared to be hallucinogenic mushrooms inside. Each of the five bags contained exactly three grams of mushrooms. A sixth baggie was located that held two grams of contents.
During the investigation, it was determined that the mushrooms belonged to Petti. He was arrested for possession with intent to sell to distribute hallucinogenic mushrooms and possession of paraphernalia.
