FORT MYERS, Fla. - A corrections deputy at the Lee County Jail lost his job for passing notes to a female inmate.
An investigation determined that Deputy Justin Testa started passing secret notes to inmate Gina Bermudez beginning in late August.
Bermudez is behind bars for probation violation, having been initially arrested for grand theft.
A shake-down of the jail uncovered one of the notes on August 30th. That prompted an investigation which led jailers to Bermudez who admitted that Testa had been passing her notes.
The deputy was using a laundry cart to get the notes to Bermudez, which were personal and sexual in nature.
