FORT MYERS, Fla. - District 19 Congressional candidate Curt Clawson is adding another big name to his roster.
Former Congressman Connie Mack officially endorsed Clawson earlier this week and appeared with Clawson at a news conference Saturday.
"The people of Southwest Florida deserve someone in Washington who's not going to be a just go along, get along, whether it's Republican or Democrat, but someone who is going to stand up for our values," Mack said.
Mack noted Clawson's desire to get the economy moving and get the country's debt under control
"You know there's not a lot of CEOs in Washington, D.C.," Mack said.
Clawson, the former collegiate basketball star and CEO, endorsed Mack's Penny Plan as the best way to balance the federal budget.
"Just one penny per dollar over ten years would be $7.5 trillion in deficit reduction," Clawson said.
Clawson wants to pair the Penny Plan with his plan to increase the nation's economic growth by 5%. The five-point plan focuses on reforming corporate tax code, easing financial burdens on small businesses and health care reform.
"Getting your way out of debt will be much easier if we get the economy moving again," Clawson said.
The Republican primary is April 22nd. The winner will face Democratic candidate April Freeman and Libertarian Ray Netherwood.
