WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Tom Rooney (D, Fl-17) is not accepting any pay until the shutdown is resolved.
“How could I justify cashing a paycheck from the taxpayers while the government is shutdown because we couldn’t do our job?” Rooney said in a statement.
Rep. Trey Radel (R, Fl-19) tweeted Tuesday that he is also asking to not be paid.
Senator Bill Nelson (D, Fl) released a statement saying that he isn’t shutting down, meaning he will continue to receive pay.
