Charlotte County traffic stop turns into a marijuana bust

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - A Georgia man is behind bars in Charlotte County after a deputies find several pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

According to the sheriff's office, 31-year-old David Walfall took off when deputies tried to stop his car near Kings Highway and Teseo Boulevard in Punta Gorda.

After deputies caught him a K-9 unit found a duffle bag in the car carrying more than 48 pounds of marijuana. 
 
Walfall is charged with trafficking, possession of drug items and resisting arrest.
