Car burglary suspects nabbed by victim in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Punta Gorda police arrested two men Friday night after a victim chased down a man he saw breaking into his SUV.

It happened in the parking lot of Fisherman's Village.  A North Port man told police he saw Darrell Bush of Fort Lauderdale lean into his broken out car window and take something.

The victim yelled at Bush who took off running.  The victim chased him down with help from bystanders and him until police arrived.  The victim noticed that two cell phones had been stolen from his SUV.

Witnesses told police that the other vehicle involved in the burglary was still in the parking lot and officers found another man, Darrion Donaldson, of Plantation, Florida.

Police managed to find the stolen cell phone's hidden in Donaldson's vehicle.  Police also found a small amount of marijuana.

Bush was charged with burglary and grand theft.  Donaldson was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
