Cape Coral, Fla.- A Cape Coral middle school teacher is out of a job.
Shay Pearson- a teacher at Oasis Charter middle school - was officially terminated today .
Just last week, her husband was booked into the Lee County Jail when he showed up on campus with guns in his car.
He has since been released and no charges were filed.
Oasis Charter School hired a law firm to do an outside investigation on Shay Pearson -- who's been on administrative leave since allowing a convicted felon into her classroom -- before the school year started.
Pearson also signed a notarized form for the courts verifying the man had performed the work.
In a memo released to Fox 4, superintendent Angela Pruitt said the man Pearson brought into the school -- Justin Marecz -- should not have been allowed to participate in volunteer work without a background check.
She also said Pearson did not have the authority to grant permission for Marecz to volunteer at the school.
And finally -- Pruitt says Pearson's actions undermined the parents' confidence in her judgment as a teacher -- and hurt the school's reputation.
Shay Pearson's attorney, Mike Chionopoulos, released this statement.
"It is most unfortunate that Oasis Charter Schools elected to publish selected portions of Ms. Pearson's personnel records to the media and apparently emailed unsupported conclusions to parents. It is even more unfortunate that Oasis, as a public entity, has indicted, charged and seemingly convicted Ms. Pearson in the court of public opinion in which constitutional safeguards such as cross-examination of witnesses are not permitted. Ms. Pearson will explore all available courses of action to seek redress."
