CAPE CORAL - The mystery of a jar found in a classroom over the summer has been solved.
According to Lee County Schools, a former child development teacher used the jar for more than a decade as a teaching tool. She had received it from a science teacher who was retiring.
The mystery of the jar began last month when a teacher returning from summer break discovered it in a paper bag in a cabinet.
After an investigation that included the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the district medical examiner, it was discovered to be a preserved human specimen.
The specimen was stillborn and aged 16-19 weeks.
