3 arrested for counterfeit money in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Punta Gorda police arrested three Broward County residents for passing multiple counterfeit $100 bills at local businesses.
32-year-old, Tavares Taylor, 34-year-old Audra Lyons, and 21-year-old, Brittany Smith, all face charges related to the counterfeit money. Taylor and Lyons were also charged with possession of marijuana.
Police caught up to the trio after one of the women tried to pass a phony $100 at a liquor store Saturday afternoon.
Police found a total of 32 counterfeit $100 bills in their vehicle as well as numerous sales receipts for merchandise purchased across the state of Florida.
