Tracking the Tropics: Remaining Quiet
Meteorologist Jamie Kagol
Tracking the Tropics-
The tropics remain relatively quiet, especially around the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
There is one tropical wave located about 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles with a low chance (10%) of becoming a tropical cyclone.
It is interacting with an upper-level low, but strong wind shear is preventing any strengthening.
There is a 20% chance of strengthening during the next 5 days as it continues moving to the northwest at 15-20 mph.
