CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Hertz is on the hunt.
The car company hasn't even fully relocated hundreds of jobs to its new company headquarters in Estero and it's already looking to expand in Southwest Florida!
That could mean hundreds of more jobs here, specifically in Cape Coral.
Chamber president Mike Quaintance calls the opportunity 'huge.'
Hertz is now looking to build a video call center for customer service where you can actually see the person you're talking to.
Cape Coral is one of two finalists in the country with a shot at the new location.
It's expected to bring in more than 250 jobs which would mean a big chance to bounce back to a stable economy.
"We'll be back there," Quaintance said in talking about the local economy. "But, Hertz just allows us to get back there a little quicker if they come on board. Not to mention, it's a great opportunity for other business that might be considering us and say 'Hey, if Hertz is interested in Cape Coral then perhaps we should take a look at Cape Coral.' So, whether we win or we don't, it's not a bad thing for Cape Coral either way."
The incentives to bring Hertz here have already been passed by the Cape Coral City Council.
Officials are now working with the county and the state to come up with a final offer that could be known at next weeks Lee County Commission meeting.
A final decision on where Hertz will build the facility is likely a few months away.
