FORT MYERS - A city man is facing additional charges Thursday after Sheriff's Deputies say he attacked a correction deputy as he was being booked for DUI.
According to Sheriffs, after responding to a vehicle crash on Summerlin Road and Park Meadows Drive, the driver, 36-year-old Jeremy Saldana was placed into the back of a patrol vehicle where he began screaming and kicking the interior.
When the Deputies were removing Saldana from the vehicle he struck a deputy in the face while being handcuffed. After being placed in the vehicle a second time Saldana began to kick the door again, causing damage.
While being booked on charges of DUI, damage of property, and criminal mischief, Saldana pulled away from the deputy and struck him in the face with his elbow, breaking his nose.
Saldana was also charged with aggravated battery of an officer. He is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail.
