FGCU basketball team captures ESPY award for "Best Upset of the Year"

LOS ANGELES, CA -
The FGCU basketball team won the ESPY award for the "Best Upset of the Year" presented by ESPN. It's an annual award that is given each year at the cable sports networks banquet in Los Angeles. It was for FGCU's upset victory over basketball powerhouse Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 22. FGCU then went on to beat San Diego State in the second round to advance to the prestigious "Sweet Sixteen".
FGCU beat out Texas A&M's football team which upset #1 Alabama towards the end of the regular seaon and Louisville which upset Baylor in women's college basketball. It's an award that is decided on votes by the public.
After the announcement, former FGCU Head Coach Andy Enfield thanked the crowd and said that his players really believed that they would beat Georgetown and that was the key. Several FGCU players attended the ceremony including Sherwood Brown and Eddie Murray, who also offered a few comments.
