Tracking the Tropics
The Atlantic Basin, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico remain quiet today. Some tropical moisture and energy over the Gulf of Mexico is being drawn into a low pressure system currently located over Oklahoma and Texas, so showers & thunderstorms will be common along the norther Gulf Coast. Winds shear over the southeast United States as well as the Gulf and the western Atlantic in combination with dry Saharan air from the west coast of Africa will help to keep the tropics quiet for the next several days. Most reliable long range models don't show any developments in the tropics for the next 7 days.
