CAPE CORAL, Fla. - For some Cape Coral students just getting to school worries them.
"There's no light so I can't ever see anything," said Freshman, Natalia Lobo. "When it's dark it's creepy."
In the morning she says she waits 15 minutes in the dark when school is in session.
"I will share with you that there's not a family in anywhere that drops their child off at a dark bus stop that feels comfortable," said Cape Coral councilman Kevin McGrail.
That's why he is fighting for lights at every bus stop in Cape Coral. The project would cost at least $34,000 or $200 for each stop in the city.
Some of you are not on board with the idea.
Gregg posted to Facebook writing in part, "If you're concerned about your child waiting at the bus stop in the dark, wait with them...stop relying on big brother!"
Jody said, "School bus stops change all the time. I agree; kids need to be safe. But are they supposed to add lights every time there's a new stop without one?"
Terrie wrote, "I think that would be money well spent...the way people drive and prey on children, the lights might cause a bad guy to think twice before being seen there."
Joanne suggested, "Don't let kids wait in the dark, adjust the time school begins."
