CREATED Jul. 9, 2013

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers man tried to buy a new car without any money.  The Lee County Sheriff's Office says Jason Randall went to Galloway Ford to buy a new Ford Mustang on April 25, 2013.  The car was worth more than $30,000.

The deal hinged on Randall providing a down payment of $9,500.  Randall produced a personal check along with a letter indicating the money was in h is account.

It turned out that Randall, 35, had written a bogus check.  That touched off an investigation by Lee County detectives.  Randall ultimately confessed to his crime.

Randall is charged with multiple felonies including uttering a false instrument and grand theft.
