BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - The discovery of a body this morning by a jet skier near the New Pass Bridge in Bonita Springs brought an end to the search for 23-year-old Jesse Ruth of Fort Myers.
Ruth jumped off the bridge early Sunday morning with two other friends and apparently drowned.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call shortly after 6 a.m. that a man had jumped off the New Pass Bridge for fun and couldn't be found.
Investigators say Ruth and other members of his group all had a large amount of alcohol and used cocaine.
The three men then decided to jump from the New Pass Bridge. Only Jesse Ruth failed to surface and after a search of 15 minutes, they called 911.
