NAPLES, Fla. - A Naples man ended up in jail after threatening to pour gasoline on the street to stop children from lighting fireworks and then attacking a wheelchair bound man.
Neighbors say 72-year-old Richard Rice came out of his home 10700 block of Regents Circle with a plastic bottle labeled "Gas" in his hand. Neighbors told deputies that Rice threatened to pour gasoline in the street so the children would catch fire if they lit any fireworks. At the time the children were playing with sparklers.
Then a man in a wheelchair and his daughter approached Rice to stop him from acting on his threat. Witnesses say Rice flipped the wheelchair bound man to the ground.
Rice was charged with abusing the elderly or disabled adult without great harm.
