LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A Fort Myers man is facing multiple DUI charges after Lee County Sheriffs say he plowed his SUV into a Lehigh Acres home early Saturday morning.
Sheriffs say the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of 23rd street Southwest in Lehigh Acres.
"It sounded like a bomb," said James Flores, neighbor to the home where Sheriffs say an SUV slammed into a garage.
Flores says he rushed out of his house as soon as he heard the noise.
"The car was inside the wall over there and the wheels were sticking out," said Flores.
After calling 9-1-1, he grabbed his tablet device and shot video of the aftermath. The video reveals the car pinned belly-up inside the garage.
Lee County Sheriffs say the SUV struck a parked car in the neighboring driveway, lost control, and continued going for yards.
Flores, the first to the scene, watched the entire incident unfold.
"I said are you okay? Need any help? I'm calling 9-1-1 right now. Is anyone else inside," said Flores.
LCSO says there were two people inside the car. Both were taken to the hospital for minor head injuries.
The driver, 38-year Paul Williams of Fort Myers, is being charged with multiple DUI citations. LCSO says his blood alcohol level was more than two times the legal limit.
"My next door neighbor said that he was just out a couple of minutes before this out on the porch," said Flores.
Fortunately no one inside the house was injured. All that is left today is debris, a mangled roof, damaged garage, and tire marks that tell the story of what happened last night.
"It's something I've never seen," said Flores.
LCSO says Williams is facing charges including DUI with property damage, DUI with injury to another, and driving with a suspended license.
