Chico's helps a SWFL family get a new home

FORT MYERS, Fla.- A women's clothing store is doing way more than just dressing the ladies. Chico's is helping a Southwest Florida family get a new home.

Ronel Mathurin and his family are more than ready to move into their new home.

"My first reaction is I am speechless. I can't say anything...so excited to move in," said Mathurin.

His family wasted no time. Just minutes after getting keys to their new place, a moving company started unloading furniture.

The family will end up paying less each month for a home mortgage compared to what they would have paid in rent.  The family had to meet certain requirements in order to qualify for a Habitat for Humanity home.

"Have to be working so they have income to pay a mortgage. It's not a gift. It's a hand up, not a hand out," said Kitty Green, Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties.

Corporate sponsors like Chico's help Habitat accomplish its mission. Chico's employees volunteered and added lots of love into the foundation of the home. This is the 32nd home funded by Chico's.

Habitat for Humanity is always looking for volunteers and corporate sponsors.
