Water woes for a Fort Myers woman

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers woman reached out to Fox 4 with her water woes after she received several water bills close to $100.
Sloane Cook says she understood that she would be responsible for paying her water bill when she signed her lease in December, but had no clue it would be this high.
"One hundred dollars a month extra for water and sewer for a thousand square foot, two-bed two-bath apartment is asinine," said Cook.
She says she is also surprised about what little information is provided on the bill.
"I was under the impression that I would be getting an actual usage bill from the apartment complex," said Cook.
Instead she says she got one bill that simply has the amount of money she owes, no note of how many gallons of water her united used or individual charges.
"I'm getting just a generic itemized bill that you can create - say on Microsoft word," said Cook.
She contacted the property manager for answers.
"They're saying that the City of Fort Myers only allows you one meter per apartment building," said Cook, "So they're saying you have to split it up individually."
Now Cook is wondering if she's being charged for water she's not using.
"There are families that have five or six people in the unit and I'm responsible, I guess for paying what they're using as well, said Cook, "Which is not kosher with me."
Cook is also worried that the sprinklers, anyone using a water hose connected to the complex, or even the swimming pool could be adding to her bill.
Four in Your Corner's Julian Glover went to the property manager looking for answers. Nobody was in the office and no one answered the phone. He also reached out to the third party company that's doing the billing to find out exactly how much water the entire complex is using - no response.
Cook says if no one speaks soon, she's packing her bags.
"I absolutely could be moving," said Cook.
