LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Lee County realtors are fighting for the business of Hertz business executives as the temporary headquarters location is announced for Naples.
"Lee County realtors really are fighting over Collier County realtors to get our piece of the pie," said Kristen Pell, Realtor with Treeline Realty Corp.
There's a huge piece of the pie at stake with more than one hundred Hertz executives and essential staff members moving to Southwest Florida soon. Fox 4 is told Hertz will move into their temporary location at the Fifth Third Center in Naples at some point in August and employees will start working out of the location in October.
Now Lee County realtors are working hard to make sure the big bucks stay in the Fort Myers area.
Pell emphasizes that she believes buyers will see that the best values are in Lee County.
Pell showed Fox 4's Julian Glover a 2200 square foot luxury home complete with state-of-the-art appliances and a top-notch bathroom. The property is listed for $189,900.
But Pell says, the biggest selling point might not be what's inside the house.
"Gone is the day where we talk a lot about the wonderful features of the properties themselves, we focus a lot more on the actual area," said Pell.
So how do you show off the area to a perspective buyer? Pell says it's all about online and social media.
"We have websites with maps of the area, we have activities they need to know about, we have school system information," said Pell, "The second the news was announced, we were blogging."
So far, Pell says all indications are that it's working.
"I have actually see my web traffic quadruple in the last month since I've been talking about Estero, and Hertz moving their headquarters here," said Pell.
If potential buyers are not sold yet, Pell says home values are increasing quicker in Lee County than they are in Collier County.
"Home equity growth is increasing by buying in Lee County," said Pell.
