Fort Myers man linked to series of robberies

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police arrested a 27-year-old convicted felon for the robbery last Wednesday of the Sunoco Gas State at 2907 Cleveland Avenue.
Police arrested Gilberto Sanchez-Mojica of Fort Myers on Sunday for robbery with a firearm, firing a weapon in public and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Police say during the robbery Sanchez-Mojica fired a shot into the ceiling, jumped over the counter and grabbed money the register before he fled.
On Friday, June 14, 2013 forensic evidence left behind by the suspect at the Sunoco identified Sanchez-Mojica as the robber. Law enforcement immediately began looking for him. On Saturday, June 15, 2013 The United States Marshals Florida Regional Task Force located Sanchez-Mojica at 1901 Linhart Avenue #34.
Sanchez-Mojica had an active warrant for violating his probation and surrendered to police. Further investigation by LCSO Detectives Frank Pooser and Mark Sewell along with FMPD Detective Emily Destefanis linked Sanchez-Mojica to four more robberies, one in the City of Fort Myers and three in Lee County. More charges are pending against Sanchez-Mojica.
