NAPLES, Fla.- It's now easier for people to get across a busy intersection near downtown Naples.
Nearly 45,000 people drive past the intersection of 9th Street South and 5th Avenue South.
City officials held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday morning for a new traffic light and pedestrian crosswalk at that intersection. The project has been discussed and worked on for nearly 10 years.
The light needed approval from the Florida Department of Transportation.
"It has little impact on the traffic flow because unless someone punches the button to go across it's a continuous green light," said Mayor John Sorey.
