FORT MYERS, Fla. - A call about a disturbance involving an armed subject led to the arrest of a teacher who works at South Fort Myers High School.
James Marc Jones, 38, of Fort Myers, is charged with resisting arrest without violence.
Deputies were called to the 5100 block of Country Lakes Drive about two armed men holding someone against her will.
As deputies came on the scene they spotted two men outside in the dark. Jones was standing with a weapon which turned out to be a .410 shotgun.
Deputies say they ordered Jones to drop the weapon. He refused initially but finally placed the shotgun on the ground.
Deputies then ordered him to put his hands in the air. Jones reportedly responded by saying, "This is private property. . . I don't have to."
The two deputies pushed Jones to the ground. Because Jones resisted efforts to be handcuff he was struck in the face several times and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Lee County School District is not commenting about his arrest.
