BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - It was quite a chaotic day out in Bonita Springs, heavy rains and tough winds battered much of the coastal areas but some folks were brave enough to battle tropical storm Andrea.
It definitely was not the way Tom Odlum and his wife planned on spending their trip to Bonita beach, "We are here on vacation for two weeks we've been here for about 5 days and haven't seen the sun yet." Odlum said.
But that didn't stop the two from hitting the coast, strolling the beach and making the best out of a bad situation.
"I went kayak fishing yesterday and caught some fish in the rain all day but it worked out well." Odlum.
They weren't the only ones looking on the bright side of the dreary day . Experienced swimmers Chris and Ed Clark said a tropical storm is perfect for surf
" we were hoping for some surf we heard there was some bad weather in town and on this coast there's no better time to go surfing then when there's bad weather," Chris Clark said.
"Just picks the wind up, we don't get a lot of waves in the gulf coast but the big winds help."
A few others had the same idea. even kite surfers were out catching waves. These guys said they have been through a lot worse.
