Tracking the Tropics: Waiting to get organized
FOX 4 Storm Patrol
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A large area of low pressure in the eastern half of the Gulf of Mexico is still disorganized and poorly defined; however it does have a 50% chance of strengthening to a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours.
A tropical depression or tropical storm could develop before the system comes ashore over northern Florida. As this system lifts to the north followed by a turn to the northeast towards the Big Bend area, it will produce heavy rainfall for many parts of the Florida peninsula.
Locally Southwest Florida could see 3" to 4" of rain in the coastal corridor by Saturday morning and 2" and 4" inches across our inland areas.
