Home construction uptick in Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Contractors pulled 80 permits to build single-family homes in Lee County in May. Lee County Community Development put the value of those homes to be built in unincorporated parts of the county at $16.3 million.
That compares to 66 permits issued in April and 44 issued in May 2012.
Also during May, 43 multi-family units were permitted, compared to 65 in April and 14 in May 2012.
General commercial activity was valued at $687,525 for 115 permits, compared to nearly $1.2 million in April and $5.4 million in May 2012.
