Port Charlotte, Fla. - New signs are going up all across Charlotte county, and they're making life easier for veterans.
These new signs printed with the purple heart, are saving a spot for some of the country's finest.
"We have signs all over the county, we have them at the parks, we have them at the county administration buildings, you know different places like that where its a business to help them get closer to the door."
David donahew tells fox four about how he helped find these signs, that are giving wounded wounded veterans, closer parking spots. And as a 21 year old army vet himself, Donahew says the project was an easy decision.
"Take it in front of the board of county commisioners, approved unanimously. I dont take my job for granted, Im here to help veterans in any way I can. And this is just a little way to say thank you."
And he's not the only one saying thank you.
Reporter: "So your seeing businesses grab them?"
Donohew: "oh businesses are starting to put them up, yeah I received probably three or four calls last thursday, different businesses that liked them"
And the best part of the deal, the signs didn't cost you, the taxpayer, a single penny.
"We went to the wounded warrior family support organization, who actually provided the 40 signs for us at no cost."
An offer Donohew hopes businesses can't refuse.
"You know I challenge everybody in Charlotte County, every business, put up a sign"
